Briefed with capturing the attentions of the quarter’s youthful, savvy crowd and creating the night time appeal the location demanded, Macaulay Sinclair took just ten weeks from inception to completion to produce a virtuoso Pitcher & Piano unlike any other in the group’s national portfolio.

According to Macaulay Sinclair Director John Macaulay, the concept of separateness and contrast underpinned the agency’s approach to a building which houses three stunning internal floors amid two 15-metre high Grade II-listed canal-side Victorian arches.

La Nonna Italian Restaurant by CheremSerrano in Mexico City

Mexican architects CheremSerrano designed the La Nonna restaurant in Mexico City. La Nonna is anItalian restaurant located in La Condesa. This project was made in collaboration with DMG architects. The design premise was to liberate the plan so the restaurant could take the most advantage of the 200 square meters local. The restaurant fuses its environment with simplicity. Incorporating the use of local materials, the floor is made of dark stone and is built unto the sidewalk, while the walls and ceiling are surrounded by red brick with special cutting on top of mirrors.

The mirror was placed in order to enlarge the space and create a game of light and shadows. The furniture is elegant and simple. At the center is placed a bar with a pizza stove and a wood counter to sit and enjoy a nice wine. The services and the kitchen are placed in a second level connected with the ground floor by an elegant illuminated staircase.

Pio Pio Restaurant with characteristic of Latin America by Sebastian Marsical Studio

Sebastian Marsical Studio designed the Pio Pio Restaurant in New York. The visitor enters this rustic wooden box and is removed from the noisy Manhattan streets. An exquisite marble host-table floats within the space enclosed in reclaimed wood. However, this is only a glimpse of what exists beyond.

In the following space, a sparkling brass vestibule glows within a second wooden box. This stimulating entry leads to a 40-foot, monolithic marble bar resting on a distressed concrete floor. The bar also defines the long corridor towards another space at the end of the restaurant, set at the bottom of a flight of stairs. Here the lights dim and one finds oneself contained in a volume woven entirely in Ocotillo canes. A series of concrete forms simultaneously enclose this main dining hall and integrate it with the various res- taurant services.

Nobu Restaurant Interior Design by Rockwell Group in Dubai’s Atlantis Resort

Nobu have opened their first restaurant in the Middle East. The restaurant is located in Dubai’s Atlantis Resort on Palm Jumeirah, and was designed by Rockwell Group. Nobu Dubai was an evolution of many of the concepts Rockwell Group developed for the flagship Nobu Fifty Seven in New York, such as the emphasis on craftsmanship, natural materials and storytelling. The textures and materials in this particular location were chosen to reflect the finely crafted cuisine and Nobu’s roots in the Japanese countryside, while also celebrating the Dubai beachfront context.

To anchor the restaurant in its location, Rockwell Group surrounded the restaurant walls and ceilings with large hand-woven curvilinear abaca panels to evoke an environment submerged under an ocean wave, and added accents of traditional Middle Eastern vernacular architecture such as hand-wrought iron columns of flowers, leaves and buds.

Interior Design River Café Unveiled in redesign by Stuart Forbes Associates and Richard Rogers

The River Café, one of London’s most celebrated restaurants was designed by Stuart Forbes Associates and Richard Rogers, to design the space with a new open kitchen, private dining room and cocktail bar. Visitors familiar with the restaurant will also find that a new reception desk has been introduced: constructed of vivid yellow ‘Corian’ and dramatically top-lit, this new area is located next to The River Café bar, which has now been adapted and enhanced with a new back-lit bottle display. Behind the scenes, the bathrooms have been re-planned and reconstructed, with fluorescent primary colours and significantly increased space.

Significant additions also include a kitchen table within the working kitchen zone and a glass enclosed cheese room based on a classic Italian design. The kitchen is now completely open to public view, enabling diners to observe chefs in action. A notable addition is a new wood burning oven, dominating the dining room and kitchen. via

Contemporary Interior Design TREE Restaurant by Koichi Takada Architects

Koichi Takada Architects have designed the TREE Restaurant in Sydney, Australia. Contemporary interior design can best embody the qualities and virtues present in nature. Dining under the cherry blossom trees is a social gathering that celebrates the arrival of spring. This concept not only represents the serving of Japanese cuisines, but also hopes to capture a symbolic place for the locals to gather and dine under ‘one big tree’ and for the owner to nurture the business as if growing a tree.

Dappled light filters between the timber branches. The flairs of light change as you move throughout the restaurant, mimicking the irregularity of natural sunlight, while highlighting the path of the Sushi Train. Conceptually the TREE has become symbolic of the nurture and care put into growing this successful business.  The branches extend to the perimeter, encompassing diners and workers alike.

The Cave Restaurant Interior by Koichi Takada Architects

This unique cave restaurant interior design in Sydney, Australia is created by japanese based architect, Koichi Takada Architects. The restaurant interior was designed with the goal to change the way we eat and chat in restaurants. The acoustic quality of restaurants contributes to the comfort and enjoyment of a dining experience.

Description from the architects:

We have experimented with noise levels in relation to the comfort of dining and the ambience a cave like environment can create. The timber profiles generate a sound studio atmosphere, and a pleasant ‘noise’ of dining conversation, offering a more intimate experience as well as a visually interesting and complex surrounding.

The series of acoustic curvatures were tested and developed with computer modelling and each ‘timber grain’ profile has been translated and cut from computer-generated 3-D data, using Computer Numerical Control (CNC) technology.

Yellow Treehouse Restaurant Australia by Pacific Environments Architects

Yellow Treehouse natural restaurant design concepts that was build by Pacific Environments Architects for the Yellow Pages. This natural treetop restaurant stands 10 meters up a redwood tree in a forest near Warkworth, north of Auckland, New Zealand. This Yellow Treehouse restaurant was built in 2008 - 2009. The concept of this cool restaurant design is driven by the ‘enchanted’ site which is raised above an open meadow and meandering stream on the edge of the woods.



The tree-house concept is reminiscent of childhood dreams and playtime, fairy stories of enchantment and imagination . It’s inspired through many forms found in nature -the chrysalis/cocoon protecting the emerging butterfly/moth, perhaps an onion/garlic clove form hung out to dry. It is also seen as a lantern, a beacon at night that simply glows yet during the day it might be a semi camouflaged growth, or a tree fort that provides an outlook and that offers refuge.The plan form also has loose similarities to a sea shell with the open ends spiralling to the centre.



As it was built on private land, only those with a reservation were let in on the tree house location. Although the restaurant was only open for bookings between 9 January to 9 February 2009, the Redwood Forest team are now making plans to re-open the venue to the public.

The White Rabbit Restaurant in Singapore by Takenouchi Webb

Located off the Dempsey area in Singapore, this old chapel / conservation church was transformed into a beautiful and inspiring place for everyone who need a quiet comfortable place to get a lunch or dinner. Yeah this White Rabbit is a restaurant and bar housed with an attached outdoor terrace for dining and drinking, and a refreshing, yet timeless design complemented the dining concept of classic European comfort food designed by Takenouchi Webb.

The primary goal was to restore as many of the existing details as possible, drawing a clear line between the old and new parts of the building through detaching the new elements away from the existing. Natural materials such as copper, steel, marble and timber, treated as raw as possible to complement the patina of the existing building were selected.















Retention of the simplicity and beauty of the abandoned church at Harding Road that was to become The White Rabbit was the starting point for the design team, Takenouchi Webb. Drawing inspiration from traditional British public school dining halls and church buildings, their primary goal was to restore as many of the existing details as possible. Their solution – by drawing a clear line between the old and new parts of the building through detaching the new elements away from the existing.















To that end, natural materials such as copper, steel, marble and timber, treated as raw as possible to complement the patina of the existing building were selected. The design brief called for a single dining space and bar with an attached outdoor terrace for dining and drinking, and a refreshing, yet timeless design which complemented the dining concept of classic European comfort food.






























The original ceiling soffit was replaced with identical panelling, the decorative steel window grilles restored and clear glass added to the openings. The original paintwork was matched and the mosaic floor cleaned and restored.
















In the main dining hall space they retained the format of the original raised platform that housed a fibreglass baptism bath and decided to make this the bar area. A large double-sided dark marble counter that naturally separated the main dining area from the lounge bar space was added here. The different heights either side of the bar meant that guests could sit at the bar at the upper level looking out over the restaurant whilst the lower level could be used more for serving.
